Smith Real Estate Services, Inc., Reaches Milestone Assembles more than 300 Parcels of Land for MAOG
Atlanta GA., April 2, 1996 - Smith Real Estate Services, Inc., (SRES) reaches a milestone recently with the acquisition of more than 300 parcels of land valued at more than $4 million for the Metropolitan Atlanta Olympic Games Authority (MAOGA). MAOGA contracted with SRES three years ago after a competitive bid process. The firm was responsible for appraising and negotiating the purchase of land required for Olympic projects and venues.
"The land acquisition process has been very successful, despite the fact that it hasn't always been easy," said Richard Monteilh, Executive Director of MAOGA. "SRES has to deal with missing property owners, extended families and a variety of other issues that impact negotiations. Pam has done a sterling job helping us to achieve our objectives. SRES has never missed an assignment or a deadline, which is critical when dealing with the fixed and immutable deadlines associated with the Olympics."
MAOGA'S mission is driven by the Olympic Games. However, its role has expanded to include revitalization of neighborhoods in and around Olympic venues. Neighborhoods positively impacted by MAOGA include Summerhill, Techwood Homes, Mechanicsville and the Atlanta University Center.
"One reason this process has been so satisfying is knowing we are playing a role in improving the communities impacted by the Games," says Pam Smith, President of Smith Real Estate Services, Inc. "The Olympics should leave a positive legacy that Atlanta can be proud of that goes beyond new sports facilities for the city. As part of the host city, these communities are offering a great deal to Atlanta, as well as to visitors from around the world. We're proud to be part of the lasting positive effects on these neighborhoods. That's Olympic Spirit."
As the Games approach the land acquisition process is winding down. Olympic venues and projects for which SRES has played a key role in securing land include:
- Clark Atlanta University Olympic housing project
- Olympic Stadium parking
- Sheltering Arms Olympic project
- Summerhill Olympic housing project (Greenlea North & South)
